Delhi HC Slams City Govt for Book Crisis in MCD Schools

Supreme Court to Hear Kejriwal's ED Arrest Challenge

High Court Dismisses Release Plea, SC Denies Urgent Hearing

The Delhi High Court has strongly criticized the city government for failing to provide books to students in MCD schools, questioning the continuation of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in office. The Supreme Court, meanwhile, has scheduled a hearing for Kejriwal's plea challenging his arrest by the Enforcement Directorate (ED).

The Delhi High Court's stern rebuke came during a hearing on a petition filed by NGO Justice for All. The petition highlighted the severe shortage of textbooks in MCD schools, affecting thousands of students. The court observed that the government's negligence was a grave violation of the students' fundamental right to education.

In a related development, the Supreme Court will hear Kejriwal's petition challenging his arrest by the ED in connection with a money laundering case. The apex court has scheduled the hearing for next week, but has declined Kejriwal's request for an earlier hearing.

Earlier, the Delhi High Court had dismissed a plea seeking the release of Kejriwal on interim bail in all criminal cases registered by the ED and State. The court held that there was no merit in the petition and that Kejriwal must face the due process of law.

The developments underscore the ongoing legal battle between Kejriwal and the investigating agencies. Kejriwal has alleged political vendetta behind his arrest, while the agencies maintain that they are investigating the case objectively.
