Watkins Glen NASCAR Practice Group A and B Speed Rankings

Group A dominated by Hendrick and Gibbs

Hendrick Motorsports and Joe Gibbs Racing drivers set the pace in Group A of NASCAR Cup Series practice at Watkins Glen International on Friday. Kyle Larson led the way with a lap of 1:03.963 seconds, followed by teammate Chase Elliott (1:04.002) and JGR's Denny Hamlin (1:04.027).

Other Hendrick drivers in the top 10 included William Byron (fourth) and Alex Bowman (seventh). JGR's Martin Truex Jr. was fifth, followed by Team Penske's Ryan Blaney in sixth.

Busch leads the way in Group B

Kurt Busch led the way in Group B with a lap of 1:04.107 seconds. He was followed by Trackhouse Racing's Daniel Suarez (1:04.119) and Stewart-Haas Racing's Kevin Harvick (1:04.122).

Other drivers in the top 10 in Group B included Christopher Bell (fourth), Tyler Reddick (fifth), and Chase Briscoe (sixth).

Overall, Hendrick and Gibbs drivers showed the most speed

Overall, Hendrick Motorsports and Joe Gibbs Racing drivers showed the most speed in practice at Watkins Glen. Larson's lap of 1:03.963 seconds was the fastest of the day, and he was followed by three other Hendrick drivers in the top five.

JGR also had a strong showing, with Hamlin third and Truex fifth. The two teams have been the dominant forces in NASCAR this season, and they look to be the favorites heading into Sunday's race at Watkins Glen.
