Wigan Vs Salford Tempers Flare At The Brick Community Stadium Hes Completely Lost The Plot

Wigan vs Salford: Tempers flare at the Brick Community Stadium | 'He's completely lost the plot!'

A heated exchange between Wigan Warriors coach Matt Peet and Salford Red Devils counterpart Paul Rowley marred an otherwise entertaining Betfred Super League clash at the Brick Community Stadium.

After Salford had fought back from 16-0 down to level the scores at 20-20, Peet was incensed by a tackle by Red Devils forward Sitaleki Akauola on Wigan's Jai Field.

Peet confronted Rowley on the touchline, accusing him of condoning dangerous play, and the pair had to be separated by match officials.

Rowley defended his player, insisting that the tackle was fair, but Peet was adamant that Akauola had made contact with Field's head.

The incident overshadowed a thrilling match, which saw Wigan eventually win 28-24 thanks to a late try from Liam Marshall.

'He's completely lost the plot!'

Peet was furious with Rowley after the match, accusing him of "losing the plot".

"I've got a lot of respect for Paul Rowley, but he's completely lost the plot there," Peet said.

"That tackle was dangerous and it could have seriously injured Jai Field. I'm not going to stand for that."

Rowley defends Akauola

Rowley defended Akauola, insisting that the tackle was fair.

"I've seen the tackle again and I don't think there was any malice in it," Rowley said.

"Sitaleki Akauola is not a dirty player. He's a tough player, but he's fair."
